President Yoweri Museveni, the National Chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), has summoned the NRM Parliamentary Caucus to a crucial meeting at State House Entebbe this Friday at 10 a.m.
The agenda, according to a memo from Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, will focus on budget priorities for the 2025/2026 financial year.
“We have been summoned to discuss the budget priorities for the upcoming financial year,” said an NRM MP who preferred anonymity. “This meeting is crucial in ensuring that our party’s agenda is reflected in the national budget.”
As part of precautionary measures, all attending MPs have been instructed to undergo COVID-19 testing on Wednesday and Thursday at Parliament’s conference hall.
While the primary focus is on budget planning, some legislators speculate that the meeting may also touch on other pressing issues, including the recent Supreme Court ruling that curtailed the powers of the General Court Martial.
All NRM MPs and independent legislators aligned with the ruling party have been directed to attend, with expectations of a high turnout.
