President Yoweri Museveni has launched the 4-Acre Model Campaign for the Greater Kibaale districts, emphasizing the transformative potential of sustainable farming practices.
Speaking at the Kamanyire Demonstration Farm in Kikwaya, Kakumiro District, the President applauded farmers like Transport State Minister Hon. Fred Byamukama, whose model farm has become a beacon of success in the region.
At a vibrant rally in Kikwaya Bugangaizi West, President Museveni celebrated the progress of the 4-acre model, which focuses on proper enterprise selection to maximize returns. He highlighted Hon. Byamukama’s success story, revealing how the minister has grown from modest beginnings to earning over UGX 50 million per month through diversified farming.
“In December 2023, I visited Hon. Byamukama’s home to see the progress of his 4-acre farm. At the time, he had started with a few enterprises. Today, I am happy to see that he has grown and diversified, earning significant income,” the President said, encouraging locals to emulate Byamukama’s commitment and strategic approach to farming.
The President stressed that proper enterprise selection remains a cornerstone of the model, cautioning against ventures that may lead to losses. He urged farmers to focus on profitable and sustainable enterprises that align with their land sizes and market demands.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja commended the President for championing initiatives aimed at pulling Ugandans into the money economy. She called on farmers to embrace the wisdom of the 4-acre model, which prioritizes productivity and economic independence.
The event saw testimonies from farmers who have adopted the model, showcasing increased incomes and improved livelihoods. The President’s visit and the launch of this campaign mark a renewed push to transform rural communities through practical and profitable farming strategies.
As the 4-acre model gains traction in Greater Kibaale and beyond, it is poised to uplift households, ensuring every Ugandan has the opportunity to join the money economy and contribute to national development.
