On May 21, 2024, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Etsegenet Yimenu, visited the Inspire Africa Modern Coffee Park in Rwashamaire town, Ntungamo district.
This visit underscores the growing collaboration between Uganda and Ethiopia in the coffee sector. The coffee park, a pilot project by Inspire Africa, is poised to receive a substantial boost from a proposed $10 million (Shs37 billion) government grant.
The Inspire Africa Modern Coffee Park is set to revolutionize the coffee industry in Uganda. It will serve as a central hub for collecting graded coffee from farmers in the Ankole, Kigezi, and Rwenzori (AKR) regions. The facility is designed to process coffee into final products and package them for both local consumption and export. Equipped with three large factory houses, the coffee park will handle primary, secondary, and tertiary production, adding significant value to Uganda’s coffee through products like coffee wines, drinks, and lip balms.
President Museveni is scheduled to visit the site to assess the progress of this transformative project. His visit highlights the importance of the coffee park in enhancing Uganda’s coffee industry and supporting local farmers. The project aligns with Uganda’s broader economic goals by promoting value addition, boosting exports, and fostering regional agricultural development.
