Makerere University (MUK) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) have unveiled the list of government-sponsored students for the upcoming 2024–2025 academic year.
Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the Academic Registrar of the University, announced that out of the 4,000 students on the government-sponsored scheme in public universities, MUK has admitted approximately 1,000 students, while MUBS has admitted about 450.
Prof. Mukadasi also mentioned that they are still awaiting the enrollment of students on other government scholarship schemes such as the District Quota and Sports and Disability categories. Additionally, alongside the government-sponsored schemes, students will be admitted through other avenues like mature entry and private sponsorship.
The admitted students are those who completed their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations last year. They are set to commence their academic journey for the 2024/2025 academic year, scheduled to kick off in August.
The release of the government-sponsored student list marks a significant milestone in Makerere University’s efforts to provide access to higher education for deserving students across Uganda. With the diverse scholarship schemes available, the university continues to uphold its commitment to fostering academic excellence and inclusivity in higher education.
