In preparation for the upcoming Martyrs Day celebration on June 3, 2024, the police have issued comprehensive security guidelines to ensure the safety of pilgrims traveling to the Namugongo shrines.

Key measures have been put in place to manage the large influx of attendees and maintain order during the event.

Designated routes have been established for pilgrims, and safety measures have been outlined. Both overt and covert police personnel, including the marine unit, will be deployed to prevent accidents and ensure security.

Traffic diversions will be in effect on routes leading to the shrines to facilitate smooth movement and reduce congestion. To enhance monitoring, CCTV cameras and aerial surveillance will be utilized throughout the event. Health teams and ambulances will be strategically stationed at the shrines to provide immediate medical assistance if needed. A complaint desk will also be available for reporting any incidents or concerns.

Pilgrims are advised to maintain personal hygiene, bring only essential items, stay vigilant, and be aware of their surroundings. Reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities is strongly encouraged. These measures are aimed at ensuring a safe and orderly celebration for all attendees. The police urge all pilgrims to cooperate fully with the guidelines to help make the Martyrs Day celebrations a secure and memorable event.
