Ugandan singer Alien Skin, real name Patrick Mulwana, has set social media ablaze with a bold announcement barring officials of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) from his personal and professional spaces.
The “Sitya Danger” hitmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare that he would no longer associate with NRM officials unless they are fans of his music.
“From today onward, NRM officials are not welcome in my home, office, or any part of my space unless you’re a fan. Those who booked me for your political campaigns, you can come and collect your money back. I will no longer be associating with NRM officials in any capacity,” Alien Skin stated in a fiery post.
The announcement has stirred mixed reactions, with supporters praising his stance and critics questioning his motives. Alien Skin’s declaration comes amidst rumors that he may be benefiting from state funding and protection, with some alleging that his controversial actions often go unchecked by authorities. However, the singer has firmly denied these allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
The singer’s decision could potentially impact his engagements, particularly in Uganda’s political scene, where entertainers frequently collaborate with political figures during campaigns. Alien Skin’s move to sever ties with the ruling party has also reignited debates on the intersection of politics and entertainment in Uganda.
While the motivation behind the announcement remains unclear, many speculate it could be a response to mounting public criticism of alleged ties with the government. Others see it as a strategic effort to distance himself from political affiliations and appeal to a broader audience.
As the news continues to trend, Alien Skin remains unapologetic, holding firm to his stance. “I stand by my values and my fans,” he remarked in a follow-up post. “I will not let politics dictate my life or my art.”
For now, the controversy has only amplified the spotlight on the enigmatic artist, with fans and critics alike watching closely to see how this bold move will shape his career moving forward.
