A man tragically lost his life after a tree fell onto his van during the violent winds of Storm Darragh, which has wreaked havoc across the UK.
The storm, which brought wind gusts of up to 93mph (150km/h) in parts of Wales, has caused widespread disruption. Tens of thousands of homes remain without power, with over 35,000 properties affected in Wales alone, according to the National Grid.
Travel chaos continues as Cardiff Airport closed its runway until 11:00 GMT, rail services face severe disruptions, and National Express coach routes have been impacted. The storm also forced the cancellation of several major events, including today’s highly anticipated Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool.
With yellow and amber weather warnings still in effect, authorities are urging the public to remain cautious as heavy rains and strong winds persist in many regions.
