In the early hours of Monday, July 22nd, 2024, Uganda welcomed back a beloved figure, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II of Buganda. The monarch’s return from Namibia was a momentous event, symbolizing strength and unity for the people of Buganda and Uganda at large.

A Journey from Namibia

Kabaka Mutebi’s journey began from windhoek, Namibia and later reached in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at Bole International Airport , where he boarded Ethiopian Airlines flight ET338 on Sunday, July 21st, at exactly 11:16 PM. The King, dressed in a shirt and a necktie with yellow stripes, appeared strong and healthy as he moved through the aircraft.

Our reporter, who was on the same flight, observed the Kabaka interacting with passengers and his entourage. He walked from his front seat on the left side of the plane to the last seat to converse with one of his companions, demonstrating his approachable and amiable nature.

As the flight neared Entebbe, the King once again moved to the right side of the aircraft to speak with one of the two white ladies traveling with him, both of whom appeared to be part of his medical team. One of these women seemed to be in her late seventies, hinting at the specialized care the King receives.

At precisely 12:57 AM on Monday, July 22nd, Ethiopian Airlines flight ET338 touched down at Entebbe International Airport. Kabaka Mutebi, now dressed in a gray suit, was among the first to disembark. He was escorted by a team of about seven people, including the two white ladies and several other close associates.

The group made their way through the VIP section of the airport, where the King was warmly received by his subjects.

Despite the late hour, the reception at Entebbe was a vivid display of loyalty and respect. The King’s motorcade, consisting of three vehicles with the number plate KPU, was seen departing the airport at around 2:00 AM, heading towards the heart of Buganda.

A Symbol of Strength and Unity

Kabaka Mutebi’s return is not just a personal journey but a significant event for the Buganda Kingdom and Uganda. His presence is a beacon of strength, health, and leadership. As he resumes his duties, the people of Buganda are filled with renewed hope and pride, looking forward to the King’s guidance in the times to come.

In a world where monarchies are often seen as relics of the past, Kabaka Mutebi’s active and visible leadership continues to be a source of inspiration. His journey back to Uganda is a testament to his enduring commitment to his people, reinforcing the bond between the King and the subjects he so dearly cherishes.
