Uganda made a significant mark at the 4th Let’s Travel Russian Tourism Forum from June 12th to 16th, 2024, as the sole African participant, highlighting its diverse tourism offerings and forging key partnerships with Russian counterparts.

Uganda’s participation in the 4th Let’s Travel Russian Tourism Forum, held from June 12th to 16th, 2024, underscored its commitment to showcasing its rich tourism potential on the global stage. Led by Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, Minister of State for Tourism, and accompanied by Mr. Vivian Lyazi, Commissioner for Tourism Development, Uganda presented itself as a premier destination for Russian travelers.

The Ugandan delegation included six prominent tour operators, Bantu Africa Tours, Dolphin Tours and Travel, Curious Tours, and Ratel Tours, all of whom engaged actively in the Tourism Expo. This participation not only exposed Uganda’s diverse landscapes and wildlife but also established crucial business ties with Russian tourism entities.

During the Africa-Russia Tourism Business Forum, organized by the Africa Tourism Board, Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahinduka delivered a compelling presentation on Uganda’s tourism potential. The forum served as a platform to foster collaboration in promoting sustainable tourism practices and exploring investment opportunities between Africa and Russia.

“The Let’s Travel! Russian Tourism Forum has been instrumental in opening doors for Ugandan tour operators to engage with the Russian market,” remarked Minister Bahinduka. “We are committed to enhancing Uganda’s visibility as a top tourism destination in Africa.”

The discussions at the business forum focused on mutual interests such as marketing strategies, investment promotion, and industrial development, aiming to strengthen ties between Africa and Russia in the tourism sector. The exchange of expertise and resources is expected to bolster both regions’ attractiveness as global tourism and investment hubs.

Uganda’s proactive participation in international tourism forums like Let’s Travel! underscores its strategic approach to positioning itself in the global tourism market. With its diverse cultural heritage, pristine landscapes, and abundant wildlife, Uganda is poised to attract more international tourists, including from Russia, fostering economic growth and sustainable development in the region.

As Uganda continues to harness its tourism potential, collaborations forged at forums like Let’s Travel! are set to play a pivotal role in driving tourism growth, enhancing cultural exchange, and promoting economic prosperity both locally and internationally.
