Expressing gratitude for Japan’s unwavering support spanning over 62 years, Speaker Among extolled the palpable fruits of this enduring partnership, citing landmarks like the iconic Nile Bridge as testaments to Japan’s investment in Uganda’s infrastructural landscape.
“In the years ahead,” she affirmed, “we aspire to deepen our collaborative endeavors, leveraging trade, technology exchange, and educational initiatives to empower our youth and equip them for a competitive future.”
Parliament, in a recent motion, lauded the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for its pivotal role in bolstering Uganda’s healthcare, education, and infrastructural sectors, underscoring the significance of international solidarity in driving sustainable development.
Ambassador Sasayama reciprocated the sentiment, pledging to further intertwine the fabric of bilateral relations and bridge the legislative corridors between Japan and Uganda. “I extend my heartfelt appreciation for the camaraderie extended by your esteemed Parliament,” he remarked, affirming Japan’s commitment to fortify ties and champion shared prosperity.

In a proactive bid to galvanize collaborative efforts, Speaker Among seized the opportunity to enlist Japanese support for the refurbishment of the ailing Karuma Bridge, underscoring the potential for synergy akin to the successful partnership witnessed in the construction of the Nile Bridge.
With a mutual resolve to fortify bilateral ties, the two leaders concurred on the imperative of nurturing a dynamic partnership geared towards catalyzing sustainable development and fostering a future of shared prosperity between Uganda and Japan.
