The Uganda Police Force has given the green light for Ssemanda Manisul, popularly known as King Saha, to proceed with his highly anticipated concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval today, Friday, January 24, 2025. This decision comes after a brief suspension of the event last evening over safety concerns.
In a statement issued on Thursday evening, Police cited “potential structural failure on the facility likely to endanger public safety” as the reason for halting the concert. The pavilion area was identified as the primary source of risk, prompting a thorough inspection.
This morning, however, Police issued a follow-up statement confirming that the concert could go on, albeit with restrictions. The pavilion, which was flagged for safety risks, will remain off-limits to revellers.
“We have conducted a re-evaluation of the venue, and measures have been put in place to ensure public safety,” the statement read. “Access to the pavilion is strictly prohibited, and our officers will be on-site to enforce this directive.”
The announcement has been met with relief from King Saha’s fans, who had expressed disappointment over the initial cancellation. Speaking to the media, King Saha assured his supporters of an unforgettable experience.
“This concert means everything to me and my fans. I appreciate the authorities for ensuring safety and allowing the event to proceed. Let’s make it a night to remember!” Saha said.
Additional security personnel have been deployed to ensure order, and event organizers have promised compliance with all safety guidelines. The concert is expected to attract thousands of fans, with performances from other leading Ugandan artists.
Revellers have been advised to arrive early to allow smooth entry and to cooperate with security teams at the venue.
