The United States, President Donald J. Trump has announced significant adjustments to the January 20th inauguration ceremony to prioritize public safety, including moving the swearing-in indoors to the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.
As anticipation for President Donald J. Trump’s inauguration grows, historic weather conditions have prompted a change in plans to ensure the safety of attendees. The swearing-in ceremony, traditionally held outdoors on the Capitol steps, will instead take place inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda due to an Arctic blast expected to plunge temperatures in Washington, D.C., to record-breaking lows.
In a statement, President Trump highlighted the importance of protecting both participants and attendees. “I don’t want to see people hurt or injured in any way,” he said, acknowledging the risks posed by the extreme cold to law enforcement, first responders, and the hundreds of thousands of supporters expected to attend.
The indoor ceremony mirrors a precedent set by President Ronald Reagan in 1985, when similarly harsh weather forced his inauguration indoors. “This will be a very beautiful experience for all, especially for the large TV audience,” President Trump noted.
To accommodate the public, Capital One Arena will host a live viewing of the historic event on Monday, January 20th, along with the Presidential Parade. Following his swearing-in, President Trump plans to join supporters at the arena.
Other inauguration events remain unchanged. The highly anticipated Victory Rally will take place on Sunday at 3 P.M., with doors opening at 1 P.M. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and dress warmly for the conditions. Additionally, all three Inaugural Balls will proceed as planned on Monday evening.
The adjustments have been widely praised for balancing tradition with safety. Supporters have expressed enthusiasm for the celebrations, with many commending the administration’s efforts to ensure the event is accessible and memorable for all.
While the cold may prevent some from attending in person, millions are expected to tune in from around the world to witness this historic day. With these preparations in place, President Trump has reassured Americans, “Everyone will be safe, everyone will be happy, and together, we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
